Opening Hours We are committed to ensuring every young person has a good education, so these boards maybe closed at certain times during the academic year. Maintenance work and upgrades are usually carried out during the early hours of the morning so there is as little disruption to your enjoyment as possible. To see the full list of opening times please see the Help Documents on the board. |
Information for Parents, Carers and Guardians We know the concerns and worries you parents have about children and young people signing up to websites like these. So we want you to know that we too share those concerns. We also want you to know that we have taken every step possible to eliminate as many risks as possible. On this page we would like to highlight some of the measures we have taken to increase the safety of this site. Registration We ask for the following information from young people at registration: Name, Email Address, Date of Birth, Sex and County in which they are situated. The only information that may be displayed, at the child's/young person's choice, is their age and date of birth. All other personal information is only accessible by Administrators and Moderators. We ask for Date of Birth for security reasons. We operate under COPPA (The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act 1998) this states that any person under the age of 13 years wanting to join such website's should have written permission from their legal guardian or parent to do so. (Permission forms are available at registration.) We also use the date of birth as a way of actively progressing the young people through the forum. When they reach 18 years of age they will be given the opportunity to become a moderator or will just lose their access to the site. We ask for county as some of the forum groups are location based, meaning young people can talk to people in similar geographical areas. But we NEVER ask for specific postal address or any telephone numbers - including mobiles. Moderators and Administrators All of our Moderators and Management Team are CRB checked. They all have some experience in youth work either through volunteering or as a career. They all provide two or three references which we take every measure to follow up. Code of Conduct These forums carry a strict code of conduct and we take any breach seriously. Our systems are enhanced to log all activity undertaken by all users (including Management Team) on this site. Our system also logs all users IP addresses. Any inappropriate behaviour by users or Management Team will be dealt with in accordance with our warning and disciplinary policy (more information in the Help Documents on the forum). Questions and Contacts We hope this has answered the majority of your questions regarding this forum. If you have any more please do not hesitate to contact us at questions@nyf.org.uk |
